My enthusiasm for production originated from my time at Harrow College (former Greenhill
College). As a GNVQ3 Media and Communications student there, I gained
practical experience of video production, including research, script
writing and editing methods. I was encouraged and inspired by my video
production
tutor Nigel Lindley to pursue a career in film making. I was also
inspired by the power of film to giving the audience an alternative
view of the world and insights to new and unchartered territories,
bringing sometimes revolutionary and new ways of thinking. I went on
to win a Royal Society of Arts Excellence
of Performance award for Media Studies at Harrow College. I then
decided to broaden my horizons by studying for a combined honours
degree in Information Technology and Education at London Metropolitan University
(former North London University). This gave
me experience with computers and the opportunity to become proficient
in the use of several software packages.
I pursued my interest in video further at Middlesex University by studying for a
Masters degree in Video. As part of the course, I was required to
undertake various productions, including a 10 minute documentary on the
Hare Krishna
Movement, called "The
Great Illusion". I have
had work experience twice in BBC UK
Promotions (BBC Knowledge and Play UK) where I made trailers for
various programmes that
were successfully broadcast. This provided an insight into
the working environment of the BBC.
I also completed a documentary with funds from the Millennium Commission,
called "Freedom".
This gave me experience of the production process, as I was solely
responsible for the entire project, from research to editing and
packaging. In 2004 I went on to secure funding from UnLtd (foundation for social
entrepreneurs) for the production and completion of a documentary "The
Authorities Are Always Right" and in 2005 was requested to produce
a
promotional film about PACE (Physical
Activities Club Ealing).
Recently, an article published about my past and present work was featured in The Film & Festival Magazine, Autumn 2007.I have completed a documentary 'Belonging'in 2008. In October 2008, I have commenced studying for a PhD in SmartLab, East London University.
