Sindhi
Exodus

"During
the Partition time Muslims came to settle down in Hyderabad, Sindh,
which is Pakistan now. Riots were
going
on and Muslims were shouting on the roads, "Quit
Hyderabad, Sind. It is ours now. " Life was very dangerous for females.
There were
shootings,
killings and everybody was scared to go out.
I used to watch from my balcony, but my father used to close the door
of
the balcony. He
thought,
when they see the girls, they will come up and break the doors
and will get inside the house and
kidnap
the girls.
Both my brothers were already settled in Bombay. My father sent all my
4 sisters to
Bombay with
one family by train. The station was full with Muslims. My mother
and father also left all the
properties
and moved to Bombay soon. My father never went back
to Hyderabad, Sindh, but he put in his claim for his properties. In the
end, he got very
little
money, which was settled by the Government. "
